What structures absorb the products of digestion in the small intestine?

    These structures are called amino acids. The amino acids produced by the complete digestion of protein in the small intestine enter the epithelial cells by secondary active transport coupled to sodium. There are multiple transporters with different specifities for the 20 types of amino acids.
