    The blood that carries oxygen to deliver it to tissues is the oxygenated blood. The blood that do not contain oxygen and moves towards lungs for oxygenation is the deoxygenated blood. Arteries are the blood vessels that carries the oxygenated blood from heart towards the body tissues.

    The pulmonary arteries carries the deoxygenated blood towards the lungs. Arteries play crucial role in transport of nutrients, removal of waste products and carbon dioxide. The oxygenated blood consist of red blood cells in high percentage as hemoglobin carries the oxygen in the blood.
