The important steps in making a protein are:

The DNA has the specific genetic code for the making of different proteins. The DNA is transcribed into mRNA through a process called transcription. The process of transcription occurs in the nucleus.

After mRNA is formed, it travels to the ribosomes where translation occurs. During translation, the mRNA is converted into the amino acids which will join to form the specific proteins.

Packaging and modifications of the protein are done in the Golgi complex so that it can be transported outside the cell to the areas where they have to function.
