    Genes that are relatively close to one another on a chromosome will move with one another during the process of fertilization and meiosis. Thus, there will be a lined inheritance for these genes. On the other hand, genes that are found on different chromosomes will have independent inheritances because every pair of the homologous chromosomes will be positioned differently when the y are arranged at the middle of the cell during the first meiotic division.
