How will clearing away / removing vegetation affect soil erosion?

    The roots of the vegetation will loosen the soil

    Explanation:

    The roots of a plant grip on to the soil, holding it in place. If the roots are removed, the thing holding the soil together, then the soil will loosen and be easier to carry away by, wind, water, ice, or other factors.
