cell membrane permeability, gene expression and metabolism

    Explanation:

Some proteins present in the cell membrane serve as transport proteins and are involved in the transport of substances that otherwise can not cross the non-polar core of the membrane. These proteins include carriers, channels, and pumps and are involved in facilitated diffusion and active transport of charged, polar and large substances.

Some proteins serve as transcription factors and up-regulate or down-regulate the expression of the genes. Likewise, proteins with catalytic activity are called enzymes. Enzymes increase the rate of chemical reactions of metabolic pathways. Therefore, the denaturation of proteins would affect cell membrane permeability, gene expression, and metabolism.
