    Before mitosis occurs, interphase occurs first. Interphase contains 3 phases: G1 Phase (Gap 1 phase) S Phase, and the G2 Phase. In G1 the cell goles through normal cell functions. In S Phase DNA is replicated. In G2 Phase the cell prepares for mitosis and cytokinesis. During interphase, the nucleic materials are copied to the daughter cells. Answer is C.
