Why must fresh bacterial cultures be used in a gram stain? (5 pts) ?

    Young cultures or fresh bacterial cultures are used in a Gram stain culture so the crystal violet stain can stick to the cell walls of the Gram positive bacteria. The cell wall usually breaks in old cultures and the staining process will not be successful.
