After burning her hand on the stove, Kelly's pulling away of her hand demonstrated an involuntary reaction, or reflex. These occur when your nervous system takes notice of a danger to your body before you do. When Kelly got burned, the nerves in her hand immediately sensed the dangerous heat level causing the reflex of her pulling her hand back.
