The health care provider is preparing to order rifampin and pyrazinamide for a female client with active tuberculosis. what question should the provider ask this client before confirming this order?

    The answer would be: "Are you pregnant?"

    Some tuberculosis antibiotics are contraindicated in pregnancy while some of them are not known well. Pyrazinamide usage is avoided in pregnancy because of lack of data. Streptomycin and fluoroquinolone would be contraindicated. Both rifampicin and pyrazinamide are not derivative of penicillin.
