Humans rely on the lithosphere for natural resources. The lithosphere is the thin, solid layer of the Earth, which comprises the crust and upper mantle. Humans compete with other humans and with other living things for the limited resources of the lithosphere. As humans we must continually commit to being good stewards of the lithosphere, so that the environment will provide natural resources and continue to provide a healthy place for human life.

For Humans to be good stewards of the lithosphere, it is important that we protect Earth's soil because poor soil management can result in a process by which soil and rock are removed from the Earth's surface by wind or water flow, and then transported and deposited in other locations. What is the term used to describe this process?

A) Soil erosion

B) fertilization

C) Desertification

    A) Soil erosion.

Soil erosion is the process of dislocating the upper layer of the earth's soil. The most important agents are the wind and water. Each year there is significant amounts of soil that's lost and most of the times in an unnoticed way.
