NADH and FADH2 molecules made in the citric acid cycle or TCA are electrons carriers and these electrons are transferred to the inner membrane of the mitochondria and the electrons are deposited into the electron transport chain (ETC) at complexes I and II. The end result is energy generation in the form of Adenosine tri phosphate; approximately 34 ATPs.
