Ribs are the long curved bones that form the rib cage. True ribs have a connection to the sternum (1-7) while false ribs are connected to the preceding rib (7). True ribs are 1-7 ribs while false ribs are 8-10 because they connect to rib 7 on the anterior surfact. Floating ribs are ribs that do not connect on the anterior side of the sternum.
