According to central dogma of molecular biology, shortly descripition of how information flows through the biological system would be: DNA makes RNA and RNA makes protein. The dogma explains general and special transfer of information:

The general transfer:

• DNA copied to DNA (DNA replication),

• DNA copied into mRNA (transcription),

• proteins synthesized using the information in mRNA as a template (translation).

The special transfer:

• RNA copied from RNA (RNA replication),

• DNA synthesised using an RNA template (reverse transcription),

• proteins synthesised directly from a DNA template.
