The term for the collection of destroyed bacteria, dead leukocytes, and other debris is pus. The process of forming pus is called suppuration. Usually, suppuration happens during inflammation when there is an acute influx of white blood cells (predominantly neutrophils) which destroy bacteria and other foreign bodies, leaving dead neutrophils and destroyed bacteria. A localized collection of pus is called an abscess.
