Okay, so, while photosynthesis requires Carbon Dioxide and releases oxygen, cellular respiration requires oxygen and releases Carbon Dioxide. It's the released oxygen that is used by us and most other organisms for cellular respiration.

When you breath in you breath in oxygen, which comes from plants, when you breath out, you breath out carbon dioxide, which is what plants breath.
