Originally, Linnaeus could classify organisms only as plants or animals. More categories were introduced later. What characteristic of science does this show?

    This illustrates how science continually changes and improves as knowledge increases. An accumulation of new knowledge, that may originate from many different fields, eventually leads to established scientific theories being refined of changed for other theories that better fit the evidence. This is why science has been so successful. The scientific paradigm encourages critical evaluation of established science, leading to continual improvement and better understanding.
