    Improving the swimmer's fitness

    Explanation:

When the fitness of the swimmer is improved this increases swimming times and length in your "comfort zone and also delays the onset of lactate production if he/she continues swimming at the same speeds or faster for the same amount of time until you start feeling the pain. By increasing the training and fitness level, it can result in a much higher removal rate of lactic acid.

The ATP production in the body is important as all the functions of the body requires energy in the form of ATP. The glucose is used as a substrate for the ATP production.

Excess exercise causes the build up of lactate in the body due to the anaerobic respiration. The swimmers can overcome from the lactate by increasing the breathing rate. More oxygen is available in the muscles of the swimmers that shuts off the anaerobic respiration and decrease in the production of the lactic acid.
