What type of channel is responsible for the initial changes in the membrane potential of the hair cells, which ultimately determines the cochlear nerve response to sound?

    The type of channel that has the capability of making initial changes in regards with the membrane potential of the hair cells and in the same time, determines the cochlear nerve in response to sound is the mechanically gated. They are also responsible for responding to mechanical stress.
