A planet has a mass of 5.97 x 1024 kg and a radius of 6.38 x 106 m. Find the weight of a 65.0 kg person at 1000 km above the surface of this planet.

    For this we use the formula: g = GM/r²

    Where G = 6.67 x 10^11 Nm²/kg²

    So:

    (6.67 x 10^11) x (5.97x10^24) / (6.38x10^6 + 1 x 10^6)

    g = 7.31 m/s²

    F = mg = 65kg x 7.31 m/s² = 475N
