    The answer is the energy of activation. The energy required to initiate an exergonic reaction is called the energy of activation. Energy will react together only after a certain amount of energy is added to them. Example could be a cigarette lighter. when you press lighter, the flint will give out a spark to the butane which could ignite into a flame.
