Pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) is a technique for testing the presence of any genetic anomaly in the embryos. PGS involves checking the chromosome number of embryos created by IVF for abnormalities. During PGS, a small number of cells are removed from the embryo. The chromosome number and integrity is thoroughly checked in these cells. The embryos with the right chromosome are placed back in the womb for further development.
