Can yeast digest lactose on their own?

    Yeast does not produce lactase and therefore cannot digest lactose

    Explanation:

    Yeast does, however, digest glucose very efficiently. When it digests glucose, the yeast breaks down the glucose and produces carbon dioxide gas as a waste product
