    C. The amount of matter in an object

I often got confused between the difference of mass and volume, so.

Volume is the amount of space an object takes up.

To explain the difference, think of a balloon. If you fill a balloon with air it would have little mass because the balloon takes up space (volume), but the inside is just air.
