    Pivot Joint

    Explanation; Joints are formed where bones come together. Diarthrosis joints are freely mobile joints. They include synovial joints and may be classified into 6 categories; Gliding joint, Hinge joint, Pivot joint, Ellipsoidal Joint, Saddle joint, and Ball and Socket joint. The pivot joint, also known as rotary joint, allows for rotational movement. In a Pivot Joint a cylindrical surface of the bone is articulated with a ring of bone and fibrous tissue over another to produce a movement of rotation around a longitudinal axis.
