The most effective second generation antipsychotic drug for treating schizophrenia is Clozapine. This drug has about 1% risk of causing agranulocytosis (life threatening drop in white blood cells). Second generation antipsychotic drugs appear more effective than conventional drugs. They reduce both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia and are less likely to produce arditive dyskinesia.
