Need a problem statement for science project can plants grow without soil?

The problem statement should say this every plant or tree uses soil to sink their roots into for water and many nutrients and use it for support to grow. But without soil they will have an extremely hard time to survive and die without soil for water, nutrients and support for growth ... done ...
