in mendel's 1st experiment when he crossed a tall plant with a short plant why were all the offspring tall

    Because a Tall plant (TT or Tt) crossed with a short plant (tt) makes all offspring tall. Tall plants are dominant and short plants are recessive. Dominant goes over recessive, so as long as you have one dominant trait they will be tall plants.
