    Cancer treatment is always harsh on the body, can significantly dampen the immune system as a result, especially on a young child. With the platelet level dropping under acceptable level, the priority for a nurse should be bringing the level back up and minimize the risks of opportunistic medical conditions (infection, cold ...)
