Muscle tissue (smooth) which the stomach itself is made of provides the site for protein digestion and holding the contents until the food can be fully digested by other organs. The muscle movements of stomach also provides the churning action which mixes food with enzymes. Connective tissue like the blood vessels absorbs some of the digested nutrients including water to be carried thru the body by the blood which is a connective tisdue. Blood vessels like capillaries which are where the absorption takes place. Epithelial tissue, which lines the stomach protects it from the acid and enzymes as digestion occurs. Nervous tissues provides the stimulus for the actions or movements for the other tissues at work in the stomach. For example, the churning action of stomach and contractions are caused by nerve impulses on the muscles of the stomach.
