Molecules are made up of atoms that are held together by chemical bonds. These bonds form as a result of the sharing or exchange of electrons among atoms. The atoms of certain elements readily bond with other atoms to form molecules. Examples of such elements are oxygen and chlorine

Molecules are made up of the two or more atoms of the same elements (homonuclear) or different elements (heteronuclear) joined together by chemical bonds. Their main function in biology is to form the smallest fundamental unit for proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids synthesis.

    Explanation:

Molecules in biology are known as biomolecules like amino acids, fatty acids, and monosaccharide sugars. The atoms of elements are connected to each other by chemical bonds like a covalent bond and ionic (electrostatic) bond.

Biomolecules can connect with the same types of biomolecules and can make large polymers. Polymers of amino acids of different types forms proteins, polymers of monosaccharide like glucose can form starch, and polymers of fatty acids can form lipids. Some other examples of the molecules are as follows: Oxygen (O2), Ozone (O3), H2O (water), N2 (nitrogen), C6H12O6 (glucose, a type of sugar) and NaCl (table salt).
