Describe the flow of the matter and energy in a typical food web as they move through producer, consumer, and decomposer.

Producers make their own food so they start with 100% of the energy. Then herbivores will eat them and receive 50% of their energy. When the herbivores are eaten by either omnivores or carnivores they get 50% of the organism consumed. Each time something is consumed they receive half of the energy passed.
