How much of a plants mass is typically found underground?

    Scientists had determined that 80% of a plant mass is typically found under the ground. This means that, the major portion of a plant mass is from underneath the soil. Plants get most of the substance that form their mass from the soil, these include: nitrogen, phosphorus, water and several other ions and materials.
