An isolated bacterium is allowed to grow in a nutrient-rich media under suitable conditions. What will be the growth pattern for a bacterial population under ideal conditions with unlimited resources?

    Under ideal conditions with unlimited resources, the growth pattern of bacterial population will be exponential. This is the optimal growth phase of bacterial population. If resources were limited, then the growth curve would gradually become horizontal, as population becomes constant then and there is no new net growth in population occurring.
