Some animals can produce a potassium ion concentration inside their cells that is twenty times greater

than that of their environment. This ion concentration gradient is maintained by the plasma membrane.

Identify the process in the cell membrane that produces this difference in concentration.

    Cell Membrane is doing Active Transport!

    As to make high conc inside it has to rapidly pump the ions with the use of ATP! As for example If it is Nerve Cell, Na-K pump is used which is basically a protein which is doing Active Transport to pump K inside and Na outside!
