    Extra time is taken only when solid phase of water is converted into liquid or gaseous form.

    Explanation:

    When water is in solid phase, it cannot enter into water cycle as the water is first evaporated or converted into gaseous form and then condensed (or cooled down) to form cloud. These clouds further precipitates and release condensed water in the form of rain, snow fall, etc.

    Extra time is taken only when solid phase of water is converted into liquid or gaseous form.
