G1 phase
It is also referred to as growth phase of a cell. It is termed as the growth phase because this is phase in which cell synthesize various enzymes and nutrients that are necessary for DNA replication and cell division, this enhances the growth of a cell.
G1 is often referred to the first gap of time in the cell cycle and the duration varies depending on the availability of nutrient.
G1 is followed by G2 which is often referred to gap number 2. Phases like Synthesis and Mitosis are other phases of cell cycle.
