    The RDA or recoommended dietary allowance (RDA) is the least amount of protein needed for a person to be healthy. In American diet it is 0.8 grams per kilogram or (0.36 grams per pound) of body weight per day. If an adult weighs 143 lbs., his RDA can be calculated as follows:

    RDA=0.36 x 143

    RDA=51.48 grams
