What is the role of these bacteria in the nitrogen cycle?

    There are bacteria that live in nodules in the roots of legume plants. Plants cannot aboard nitrogen as it is found naturally in the air, so these bacteria fix it so that it is a compound that they can absorb. That's why organic farmers use crop rotation as a way of keeping nitrogen in the soil.
