An example of a benign hyperkeratotic skin lesion is corn or callus. The corns and calluses are hard thickened parts of skin that form as a result of rubbing friction or compression on the skin. The corns and calluses form on the feet and can make hiking painful. A soft corn has a much thinner exterior that look like whitish and rubbery and typically take place amid the toes.
