    Work = 92,704.5 joules

    Power = 154.5 watts

    Explanation:

    Given that:

    Time = 10 minutes

    treadmill grade = 15% = 0.15

    horizontal speed = 90 meters/min

    subjects weight = 70 kg

    To calculate the total work, we have;

    work = force * distance

    force = mass * acceleration

    = 70 * 9.81

    = 686.7N

    Also, distance = speed * time * fractional treadmill grade

    ∴ distance = 90 meters/min * 10 min * 0.15 (treadmill grade)

    Total work can therefore be calculated as:

    work = force * distance

    work = 686.7N * (90 meters/min * 10 min * 0.15 (treadmill grade))

    Work = 92,704.5 N/m

    Work = 92,704.5 joules

    To calculate the power, we have;

    Power = workdone/time

    Power = 92,704.5 joules/600 seconds

    Power = 154.5 joules/second

    Power = 154.5 watts
