    There are two types of tides created by the gravitational force of the moon: the high and the low. The one which occurs when a coastline is within a tidal bulge is the low tide. Coastal areas experience two high and two low tides every lunar day and it takes six hours and 12.5 minutes for the water at the shore to go from high to low, or from low to high.
