When you are preparing to view a specimen, how do you initially make sure you will be looking at the part of the slide that has the specimen. you're interested in on it? Do you look thru the lenses of the microscope or do you look at the stage and center the specimen without looking thru the lenses?

I would center the specimen first because if you look first through the lens, there is such a large amount of zoom that you wouldn't be able to tell if you are looking at the correct area.
