A contact lens is isotonic in nature and its pH is maintained by using buffering solution.

    Explanation:

Contact lenses that we wear in eyes are basically isotonic in nature which means that the osmotic pressure in the contact lenses is exactly the same as is found in tear film of our eye. It also act as a lubricant that bathes both the cornea and conjunctiva of the eye.

Also the pH level of the contact lenses is maintained by using a buffereing agent. Buffering agents such as phosphates, citrates, borates etc. stabilize the pH level between 7.0 and 7.4.
