Alison was found wandering near her neighborhood three weeks after she went missing. On being questioned by the police, Alison revealed that she couldn't remember anything that had happened to her over the past fortnight. The last thing she remembered was walking by the lake.     When a person experiences an episodic retrograde memory loss which may last four a few hours to even years, then such a memory disorder is known as dissociative amnesia. In this disorder, there is a gap in the memory in which the person fails to recall a few events of his/her life. In the given case it has been stated that Alison was unable to recall what had happened to her over the past fortnight and therefore, since this a loss of a specific memory of recent events and not long term memory loss she is suffering from dissociative amnesia.
