What does it mean if a molecule is moved against the concentration gradient?

    Means that the molecule is moving from a area where it is low in concentration to an area where it is high in concentration with the expenditure of energy.

    Substances move freely down its gradient that is from high to low (along its concentration gradient) but if it has to move the opposite direction energy is needed because its moving from low to high ...
