    A. dissipation

Once a tropical cyclone has passed its mature stage, and can no longer extract energy from warm ocean water, over land for example, will begin to dissipate (enter the dissipation stage).

If the tropical cyclone moves into higher latitudes (over colder waters), it will become an extra-tropical cyclone and change its structure.
