Chris, who works at a pesticide factory, comes to the clinic complaining of muscle spasms that interfere with his movement and breathing. A blood test shows that he has been contaminated with organophosphate pesticide, which is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. How would you explain to Chris what this means?

    As Chris has been found to be contaminated with the pesticide of the category organophosphate, these organophosphates inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase which destroys the acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a chemical stimulator of muscle fibers and needs to be destroyed after it has performed its action. As it is not getting destroyed thus muscles are continuously being stimulated and as a result he is feeling spasm in muscles.
