The eukaryotic chromosomes consists of the DNA - protein complex which is organized in a complex manner. This is done in order to compact more amount of DNA in the nucleus of the cell.

The DNA is wrapped around the protein complex known as the histone protein which is composed of 8 subunits known as histone.

Before the cells starts dividing the master control of the mitosis phosphorylates these histone proteins which allows them to connect with each other and bind the DNA tighter to form a chromosome.

The DNA itself is made of nucleic acid which states that the eukaryotic chromosome is made of Nucleic acid and protein complex.
