Prokaryotic cells have in common with eukaryotic cells some characteristics such as having a cytoplasm, a membrane, a flagella (in some cases), ribosomes, and chromosomes (though different).

Some things that are characteristic of the prokaryotic cells can be its diameter of about 0.2 to 2 μm, unbound nucleoid, circular DNA, no cytoskeleton, no membrane receptors, small ribosomes, and binary fission. Characteristic of the eukaryotic cells, it can be highlighted their diameter as well that's of 10 to 100 μm, a membrane bound nucleus and nucleolus, linear DNA with histones, cytoskeleton, many membrane receptors, big ribosomes, and mitosis.
